The Route

After riding an 11 year old second hand Kawasaki KLR with minimal upgrades for 17’748 km in 108 days, crossing 14 borders and countries, getting it stuck in snow and rivers, dropping it in mud, sand and gravel, meeting an array of travelers, heavily armed border guards, dodgy policemen and welcoming locals, I finally arrived in Ulaan Baatar on August 22, 2015.

The stops in Tbilisi and Almaty are clearly visible.

In total, 860l of gasoline were used, putting fuel “economy” of the 2004 KLR 650 at 5l/100km.
